In Japan, green tea is made in small stone ceramic teapots (Kyusu). The filter in front of the spout keeps the tea leaves while serving and allows you to make multiple draws from the same leaves. The leaves floating freely in the teapot, unimpeded by a filter that is too narrow, are able to transmit their aromas very well.
